PANews reported on September 26 that Chris Maddern, chief technology officer of OpenSea, issued a post on the X platform in response to the impact of the Magic Eden and Limit Break security incidents, emphasizing that OpenSea’s systems and smart contracts have not been affected. It is currently known that the affected ERC-721 NFT has been marked on OpenSea and cannot be sold; for subsequent newly discovered exploited NFTs, OpenSea will also automatically mark them to limit attackers from obtaining relevant quotes.
Chris Maddern added that for users who still have relevant authorizations, OpenSea will display prompt banners through the platform page and provide links to guide users to revoke authorizations. So far, more than 3,000 NFTs have been marked as stolen and banned from trading. OpenSea said it will continue to help reduce the impact of this industry security incident on users.
